Since 2006, FlakPhoto Director Andy Adams has worked with cultural institutions to connect with online audiences. His projects blend aspects of digital communication, online audience engagement, and creative collaboration to explore contemporary ideas in photography. Two such projects are Looking at the Land and Making Pictures of People.
Looking at the Land is an online landscape photography exhibit sponsored by the RISD Museum of Art. Consisting of both a museum-based projection and the web exhibition, it has received positive critical reception in American Photo Magazine, TIME Magazine, and the LA Times.
Making Pictures of People is digital exhibit of portrait photography commissioned by the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Designed and developed primarily to be experienced on-site via large format touchscreen displays, the piece aimed to entice and intrigue visitors, while not distracting from the photos and interviews. A slightly-adapted version of the kiosk lives on the web, viewable on any device.
